MINERSVILLE - A 29-year-old borough man was jailed Wednesday night after Minersville police arrested him in connection with three drug incidents involving the sale of psychedelic mushrooms.

Police said two of the three complaints charge Robert F. Bellin, 322 Laurel St., with one felony count of delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance while the third complaint charges him with felony delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor offenses of possession of a controlled substance, prohibited offensive weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Bellin sold two sandwich baggies containing Psilocybin mushrooms to an undercover officer for $60.

Police said the mushrooms are a schedule I controlled substance and can cause hallucinations, euphoria, distorted sense of time and space and other altered mental states.

On Wednesday, about 3 p.m., police said the undercover officer bought two additional baggies of the mushrooms for $60 from Bellin who said he had more to sell.

That same day, just before 6 p.m., police said they executed a search warrant at Bellin's home targeting the bedroom.

Police found three digital scales there and a plastic box holding four individually wrapped bags of the mushrooms, loose mushrooms, numerous marijuana pipes, a plastic box holding marijuana, brass knuckles and a lock box holding a glass pipe along with paperwork.

Police said about 9 p.m. Bellin surrendered to police after learning they were looking for him.

After being read his Miranda Rights, police said Bellin told officers he found the drugs and thought he would take a chance selling them to earn money to spend on his girlfriend and to pay bills.

He also admitted selling the drugs to the undercover officer, police said.

Bellin will now have to answer to all three complaints before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Bellin was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail for each of the three complaints.
