n Orwigsburg: Shenandoah native and former Philadelphia Eagles owner Jerry Wolman is expected to visit Blue Mountain Elementary East on Wednesday and make good on his promise to give every fifth-grader a copy of his book, "Jerry Wolman: The World's Richest Man." On his previous visit he only brought about 100 books and didn't want to leave any of the students shortchanged, so he didn't give out any books, but promised to make good for all at a later date. Also during his visit, he will announce to the PTO an offer to help raise funds for the school through a fundraiser involving his book, according to Kent Steinmetz, owner of the J.W. Cooper Community Center, Shenandoah, and president of Steinmetz Jewelers, Hamburg and Shenandoah.
n Pine Grove: The fourth annual Pine Grove Community Day is slated for June 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Drive, at the canal by the swimming pool. There will be a car show with registration at $5. Trophies will be given to the first 50 cars registered and best of show trophy. Vendor, flea market and yard sale spaces are available for $10. n Port Carbon: The Port Carbon Public Library will participate in the communitywide yard sale set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9. In a release, Jason Abati, library director, said the library will sell books for $2 a bag along with yard sale items, hot dogs, candy and drinks. He said the library needs used items for the sale, but it cannot accept clothes. Donations can be dropped off at the library during regular hours before Tuesday.

n Saint Clair: The Schuylkill Transportation System bus and van service will not operate Monday in observance of Memorial Day. In a press release, Dolly Kuehn, operations and safety supervisor, said regular fixed-route bus and van service will resume Tuesday.
n Shenandoah: Formal dedication of the mural honoring Marine Cpl. Anthony P. Damato, a Shenandoah native and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, on the north wall of the Anthony P. Damato American Legion Post 792, is set for Monday morning at American Legion Memorial Garden, North Main Street. There will be a Memorial Day parade at 9 a.m. and also a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at borough hall, Washington and Main streets, after which participants will march to the garden for the dedication.
n Shenandoah: The annual Coal Cracker 10K and Fun Run is set for June 9 starting in the first block of North Main Street. Registration will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Thunder Road in the 100 block of North Main Street. The entry fee is $15 if paid by May 31 and $20 thereafter.
