SAINT CLAIR - Thirteen tombstones that were found within the patrol area of state police at Schuylkill Haven were determined to be unearthed in Mill Hall, Clinton County, by a construction company.
Police said, during the investigation, the tombstones that were found on Reading Anthracite Company property in east Norwegian Township on the Burma Road were dumped by a company that had done work in Pottsville.
The company had permission from Reading Anthracite to dump them on the property, where they were found Wednesday.
Of the 13, eight were transcribed, which state: Robert D. Phelger 1875-1951, Frank 1866-1910, Loretta A. Buries 1900-1945, Harry J. Johnson 1887-1924, Mary A. Rote 1888-1933, William E. Gramley 1886-1948, Lewis M. Birch 1858-1930 and John and Johanna Barbarch.
Cpl. Kevin Brennan said previously that the grave markers weighed about 500 to 700 pounds each.
It was determined that the stones were made with errors of some sort and were to be discarded.
No criminal activity took place and no charges will be filed.
