PORT CARBON - Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers and state police at Schuylkill Haven are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who assaulted a woman in the borough last week.
Police said the assault occurred in an alley to the rear of 34 S. Coal St. about 2:30 a.m. June 24.
Police said Casey Newhard, Port Carbon, reported she arrived home in her vehicle, parked next to her neighbor's truck and began to get out.
A man who was crouched behind the neighbor's truck approached the woman and made verbal contact with her, police said, adding that he then forced Newhard into the side of her vehicle and eventually to the ground.
Police said the man struck Newhard but she was able to free herself after a brief struggle, and he fled on foot north through the alley toward the bridge that leads to Miller's Park.
The man is described as being white, in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 150 or 160 pounds. He has blonde or dirty blonde hair and was wearing a black baseball hat with a flat brim, a gray zippered hoodie, dark blue jeans and sneakers.
