McAdoo Borough Council will reimburse three fire companies for equipment damaged in a recent storm that caused flash floods on Memorial Day weekend.
The vote was 7-0 to reimburse McAdoo Fire Company $2,124, Keystone Fire Company (also in McAdoo) $1,405 and Tresckow Fire Company $437 to cover damaged equipment due to the flooding on May 26.
Firefighters pumped water from the basements of more than 30 homes after several inches of rain fell in a short period of time.
McAdoo is seeking two more members to complete a five-person Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board. People with knowledge of plumbing and electrical work are needed to fill the final two seats.
The council approved moving forward by advertising for letters of interest to sit on the board.
After Tuesday's meeting, Councilman William Slovik noted that filling the two seats is difficult due to qualifications that require specific knowledge about building construction and, in some cases, professional experience as a plumber, electrician or engineer in the building industry. It is more difficult to find someone willing to do that in a small municipality, Slovik said.
