wanted by police
PORT CARBON - Port Carbon police said an arrest warrant has been issued by Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, for Brett J. Kadingo, 26, of Pottsville, on a complaint filed by borough police.
Police charged Kadingo with escape, driving under suspension-DUI related charges and driving with an expired inspection stemming from a traffic stop at 10:10 a.m. on June 27 in the 100 block of Pottsville Street.
Police said officers saw Kadingo's black GMC pickup truck with an expired inspection at Second and Market streets.
During the stop, police said, Kadingo showed signs of being intoxicated. When being given a field sobriety test, police said, the man fled on foot into the nearby woods.
Police from Saint Clair, Palo Alto and Bythe Township were called to assist with searching the area but he was not found.

Barnesville pair
face charges
HOMETOWN - Two men are facing charges by Rush Township police after an incident in the parking lot of McDonald's about 2 p.m. Sunday.
Police said John J. Maddis Jr., 21, and Joseph Maddis, 19, both of Barnesville, will have to appear before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
The two men, police said, allegedly lit off a Drano bomb in the parking lot during normal business hours.
No other information on the incident was available, police said.
Man, boy
face charges
HOMETOWN - A man and teenage boy are facing charges of resisting arrest and numerous counts of disorderly conduct and littering after an incident in the Wal-Mart parking lot about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Steven S. Gall, 47, of New Ringgold, and a 16-year-old New Ringgold boy will have to appear before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer Tamaqua.
Police released no other information except to say they were assisted at the scene by Tamaqua police.
DUI suspected in
Hometown crash
HOMETOWN - Rush Township police investigated a crash that occurred on Marian Avenue, just south of Fairview Street, about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said that at the scene, officers determined a 2008 Chevrolet Cavalier struck and snapped a utility pole and continued for about 200 yards before coming to a stop.
The driver fled the scene but was found nearby a short time later and identified as a 16-year-old Quakake boy, police said.
The boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus, for treatment, police said.
Police said the boy admitted drinking and showed signs of intoxication. DUI charges are pending the results of a blood alcohol test taken after the crash, police said, adding that the boy will also face numerous traffic violations.
Hometown and Quakake firefighters and Tamaqua police officers assisted at the scene, police said.
American flag
stolen from porch
WILLIAMSTOWN - State police at Lykens are investigating a theft that occurred at 145 N. East St. in Dauphin County between 11 a.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police said Megan Ann Perzia reported someone stole an American flag from the front porch of her home and fled the area.

taken from vehicle
LYKENS - A theft from a motor vehicle and criminal mischief incident that occurred between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday at 512 Main St. in Dauphin County is being investigated by state police at Lykens.
Police said someone forced their way into a vehicle owned by Jessica L. Briner, Lykens, and stole a brown and tan Coach purse containing several items owned by the woman.
The vehicle's driver's side window was shattered in the process of the theft, police said.

LYKENS - State police at Lykens are investigating a burglary that occurred in a storage building owned by Brandy's Instruments, 1315 Pottsville St., Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County, between 1 p.m. June 15 and 9 p.m. June 17.
Police said someone entered the building and removed various pieces of equipment valued at $1,350.

Windows damaged
in Pine Grove Twp.
PINE GROVE - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred at 11 Scenic View Road in Pine Grove Township between noon Monday and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said someone damaged window sills and cracked a window on a storage shed owned by Diane Kreiser, Myerstown, and then left the area.

Tractor-trailer,
car collide
LYKENS - Two people escaped injury when a tractor-trailer and car collided at Route 25 and North Crossroads Road in Lykens Township, Dauphin County, about 9 a.m. Friday.
State police at Lykens said Steven T. Worhacz, 55, of Lykens, was driving a 2007 Freightliner west when he went into the eastbound lane in an attempt to pass a 2006 Dodge Stratus driven by Victoria Chou, 18, of Mechanicsburg, who slowed down and put her left turn signal on to travel onto North Crossroads Road.
The trailer of the Worhacz truck struck the driver's side of the Chou car causing moderate damage to both vehicles, police said adding that Worhacz will be cited for not driving on roadways laned for traffic as a result of the crash.
Man flees scene
of grocery store
WILLIAMSTOWN - State police at Lykens are investigating a burglary that occurred at Umholtz Grocery, 336 W. Market St., Dauphin County, about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said a black man entered the store and approached the cash register, causing a security alarm to go off. The man fled the scene on foot.
The man is described as being between the ages of 20 and 30, about 6-feet tall with an average build, police said.

Narcotics stolen
in Haven
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A burglary that occurred at Glad Rx, 216 Route 183 South, Wayne Township, between 3:41 and 3:44 a.m. Saturday is being investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.
Police said someone forced their way into the building through a rear door and stole a large quantity of narcotics before fleeing the area.

Man arrested for
stealing donations
TAMAQUA - A 23-year-old MaryD man was arrested by Tamaqua police and charged with theft and receiving stolen property after an incident at the Tamaqua Library on July 18.
Police said David Miller Jr. will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Police said Miller was caught on video taking a Tamaqua Animal Rescue bin about 10:30 a.m. that contained $23.15.
Miller fled the area but dropped the container and money after being confronted by a retired police officer, police said.
Boy charged
for conduct
LYKENS - A juvenile boy was charged with disorderly conduct by state police at Lykens after an incident at the Lykens Pool about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said the boy will have to answer the charge with Dauphin County juvenile authorities.
Police said they were called to the scene after receiving a report of a young man with a gun to his head.
The boy fled the area after being confronted by a lifeguard but was located a short time later with two black plastic pellet guns, one of which was made to appear to look like a real weapon, police said.

Man charged with retail theft
A 19-year-old Pottsville man was arrested by state police at Schuylkill Haven and charged with retail theft after an incident at Kohl's at Fairlane Village mall in Norwegian Township about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said Jeremy Guida will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
Guida, police said, picked up a box of Converse sneakers, put them on and placed his old sneakers in the box and tried to leave the store without paying but was detained by store security.
