Thieves steal more than $10,000 worth of electronics from the Hometown Wal-Mart

HOMETOWN - Rush Township police are investigating the theft of more than $10,000 of electronics from Wal-Mart that occurred about 12:35 a.m. Monday.

Police said the thieves broke into a Kindle case with a crowbar and "wiped it out."

They also broke into one of the laptop cases with a bolt cutter and took everything in that section, according to authorities.

Police said there were two vehicles involved in the heist and the crime was an organized operation with both drivers and lookouts.

It was reported that at least one of the drivers was a woman, police said.

After getting the items from inside the store, the thieves broke out of a fire door on the outside patio in lawn and garden and fled, police said.

Looking at store security cameras, police it appears that three men entered the store and that one woman was driving one of the vehicles.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call township police at 570-668-4242. All information will remain confidential.

Police had no further information available on the incident.
