Computers taken

from Wal-Mart

SAINT CLAIR - Saint Clair police are investigating the theft of more than $5,000 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart that occurred at 5:07 p.m. Aug. 17.

Police said one man and two women entered the store and went to the electronics department where the man forced open a lower cabinet and removed 11 tablet computers - five Nexus 7 tablets and six iPADs.

The man then called the women for help and the three went to the housewares aisle where they loaded the items into a clothes hamper and then left the store without paying, police said, adding that the three then fled in a mid-size black vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Saint Clair police at 570-429-3050 and refer to case C12-0001338.

Police warn

of possible scam

SAINT CLAIR - Saint Clair police are urging residents to be on the lookout for a possible scam.

Police said on Thursday they received multiple calls from various people reporting that they were receiving telephone calls from people who identified themselves as distant relatives and requesting that they send money to them because an emergency had occurred.

Police said their investigation revealed that some of the phone numbers were traced back to a Colorado area code.

Residents are reminded to be careful since these calls are being made to area residents in an attempted to scam them out of money.

Woman to face

retail theft charge

SAINT CLAIR - Saint Clair police said Thursday they filed charges against a 27-year-old woman in connection with an incident on May 17.

Police said Danielle Miller will have to appear before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property.

Miller, police said, removed a vacuum cleaner valued at $498 from a borough business without paying for the item.

DUI charges

SAINT CLAIR - Saint Clair police arrested a 50-year-old woman and charged her with DUI and DUI-highest rate after an incident at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11.

Police said officers were called to North Morris and East Hancock streets for a crash and found Claudette Hepner under the influence of alcohol, having glossy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath.

The woman was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street where a blood test determined she had an alcohol level of 0.17-percent, police said.

PORT CARBON - Port Carbon police said the following individuals have active bench warrants against them at the office of Magisterial District Justice David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, for cases that were initiated by borough police officers.

- Cumbola - Jason W. Miller, 32, of 312 Bobb Alley.

- Port Carbon - Jessica Heckman, no age available, of 222 Jackson St.; and, Timothy J. Walsh, no age available, of 339 1st St.

- Pottsville - Brian K. Bibbus Jr., 21, of 512 N. Centre St.; Dylan E. Hall, 20, of 413 W. Norwegian St.; Bradley J. Haslam, 20, of 3019 Chestnut St.; Stacie J. Rohrbach, 37, of 288 Road; and, Nathias D. Vengen, 37, of 103 N. 3rd St.

- Saint Clair - Cody Gaumer, 24, of 314 S. 2nd St.

Any of those listed can call Plachko's office directly at 570--628-5351 to avoid detainment.

In addition, anyone with information on the current locations of these individuals can contact the Port Carbon police at 570-622-5411.

Pine Grove man

injured in crash

PINE GROVE - One person suffered minor injuries when two vehicles collided at Suedberg and Hollow Hill roads in Pine Grove Township at 10:09 a.m. Thursday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Carisma Curry, 31, of Allentown, was driving a 2003 Cadillac CTS west on Suedberg Road, Route 443, when she ran into the back of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Jonathan Hardy, 42, of Pine Grove, who was stopped waiting to turn left onto Hollow Hill Road.

Hardy suffered two small abrasions on his right hand and was treated at the scene by Pine Grove EMS while Curry was not hurt.

Man, woman

arrested in Gordon

GORDON - Two people were arrested by state police at Frackville and charged with harassment after an incident at 322 Hobart St. at 10:P11 a.m. Thursday.

Police said Kristen Brzoska, 28, of Mahanoy City, and Steve Brzoska, 36, of Gordon, went to the home of a babysitter where their children were and became involved in an argument over custody.

The husband, police said, claimed his wife punched him in the head while the woman claimed her husband kicked her in the shin.

Both will now have to answer to the charge against them in district court, police said.

Teen to face

drinking charge

SAINT CLAIR - A 16-year-old girl was arrested by Saint Clair police and charged with underage drinking after an incident on Aug. 11.

Police said officers were investigating another incident and found the teen highly intoxicated to the point where she was in and out of consciousness.

Saint Clair EMS was notified and took the girl to an area hospital where she was admitted due to the high alcohol level, police.

The charge against the girl was filed with Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
