MINERSVILLE - The Minersville Area school board welcomed two new board members during its reorganization Monday.
Superintendent M. Joseph Brady said during a telephone interview Tuesday that the new members who were elected to the board during the May primary election were Emily Sterling and Mike Maley.
Malay was elected by a write-in vote.
Sterling and Maley were sworn in Monday by Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, along with two returning members, Albert D. Marazas, treasurer, and Gretchen R. Ulmer, secretary.
Brady said there were three members who chose not to run, Donna Kalovcak, whom Ulmer replaced as secretary, Keith D. Moffat and Daniel A. Shuman.
"We also have a vacancy on the board we're going to advertise," Brady said.
He said that any residents who live in the school district and are interested in being a candidate for the vacancy should apply to the school district office by Dec. 16.
