4 charged in Rite Aid theft

Pottsville police charged four people for their roles in the Oct. 4 theft at the Rite Aid at Route 61 and Mill Creek Avenue.

Police said Kerrianne P. Hoffman, 26, of Pottsville, was taken into custody the day of the theft and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on unrelated charges.

On Tuesday, police said Hoffman was charged with conspiracy to commit retail theft for her role in the Rite Aid incident. Bail was set at 10 percent of $7,500 and the woman was returned to the county prison.

The day after the theft, police arrested Randy M. Bruen, 37, of Pottsville, and charged him with conspiracy to commit retail theft, retail theft and receiving stolen property.

Bruen was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, and committed to prison, unable to post 10 percent of $10,000 bail.

On Monday, police arrested Chelsea Ann Ciccanti, 25, of Pottsville, and arraigned her on charges of conspiracy to commit retail theft, retail theft and conspiracy.

Ciccanti was also arraigned by Reiley and committed to prison unable to post 10 percent of $7,500 bail.

A fourth person who allegedly took part in the theft, Archie D. Ciccanti, 32, of Pottsville, has not been taken into custody.

Police charged him with conspiracy to commit retail theft, retail theft and receiving stolen property and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Police ask that anyone with information on Ciccanti's whereabouts call them at 570-622-1234 and speak to an on-duty officer.

The day of the thefts, police said the four went to the store and removed three flat-screen television sets before fleeing the area.

No one was injured in the incident.
