Thief nabs radio,
drink case of Coke
FREDERICKSBURG - A thirsty person broke into the Sweet Arrow Rod and Gun club recently and drank a case of diet Coke and stole an antique radio, police said.
State police in Jonestown said someone forcibly entered the club at 100 Laurel Drive, Bethel Township, Berks County, and did the acts between Oct. 7 and Wednesday.
No additional details were provided.
Cologne tester
taken from store
The Boscov's Department Store was the victim of theft at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Fairlane Village mall, Pottsville.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said someone stole a tester bottle of Bleu De Channel men's cologne, valued at $84, and left with it.
Historical society
storage opened
MAHANOY - Someone entered a storage facility and rummaged through it last week.
State police at Frackville said overnight Oct. 11 to 12, a lock of an entrance door was pried off at a storage facility at White Owl Road, Mahanoy Township, and the inside rummaged.
Vintage fire vehicles belonging to the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society are kept in them, police said.
The lock of an interior storage room was also tampered with. It is unknown if anything was stolen, police said.
Building damaged
at sports field
WILLIAMSTOWN - The Williams Valley School District sustained damage recently.
Door latches, locks and a door frame were damaged at the William's Valley School District Sports Field between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 p.m. Thursday, according to state police at Lykens.
Someone then vandalized the property by throwing Gatorade bottles inside a building, police said.
No items or property have been reported stolen, police said.

Klingerstown man
crashes into tree
MILLERSBURG - A 56-year-old Klingerstown man suffered minor injuries when his truck hit a tree.
State police at Lykens said John T. Long was driving a 1984 Cheverolet K3 Series pickup on Klinger Road, about 0.2 miles south of Hoy Road, Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County, at 1 p.m. when he was driving to fast for road conditions and lost control making a turn. The vehicle traveled about 75 feet off the road and hit a tree.
Police said Long fled the scene and went to his parents' house at 217 Klinger Road. He suffered minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
The accident is under investigation pending blood test results from Harrisburg Hospital, police said.

in 2-car accident
TOWER CITY - Five people escaped injury from a two-car accident at 6:03 p.m. Friday.
The accident occurred at East Grand Avenue and Second Street as a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Valerie Witmer, 39, of Tower City, was traveling north on Route 209 and attempting to make a left turn south onto Second Street, police said.
A 2002 Dodge Dakota driven by Gary Scheib, 52, of Williamstown, was driving south on Route 209 when Scheib struck Witmer's vehicle after Witmer attempted to turn left while not being able to see because of the glare of the sun, police said. The left front end of the Dakota struck the right back tire of the Malibu. The Dakota traveled south on the west berm and stopped facing south. The Malibu spun clockwise after being hit by the Dakota and stopped in the intersection facing north, police said.
Neither driver was cahrged in the accident, police said.
A 10-year-old and a 7-year-old in Witmer's car were not injured, police said. Gail Scheib, 52, of Williamstown, the passenger in the Dakota also was not injured, police said. All involved were wearing seat belts, police said.
Responding to the scene were the Tower City EMS, Tower City, Sheridan and Orwin Fire companies.

ORWIGSBURG - A borough man was the victim of theft between 4 pm. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday.
Someone stole five rod/reel combos from a fishing boat that was outside of a home owned by George R. Weider, 70 Summer Valley Road, state police at Schuylkill Haven said.

2 men take man's
backhoe radiator
ORWIGSBURG - A backhoe radiator was stolen from outside a borough residence at 1354 South Route 183 between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said James Leonard Boland, 47, owns the 2x2x6 radiator.
Police are looking for two white men, one in his 50s with white hair and a white goatee, and the other in his 30s with dark hair, police said. They were driving an older model, red and silver pickup truck, police said.

2 men in prison
after wire theft
HAMBURG - Two men are in the Berks County Prison after they allegedly stole hardline wire and extension cords from several properties.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Edward Matthew Matalavage, 36, of New Ringgold, and Ryan Michael Navitsky, 34, of Tamaqua, stole three roles of 7/8 inch hardline wire and one roll of 1/2 inch hardline wire owned by the state Game Commission and several long extension cords, property of the state from the Port Clinton Fire Tower, Windsor Township, Berks County, and put them in their vehicle on Thursday.
Responding to an alarm, state police at Hamburg responded to the site that is used by the state and the Berks County Emergency Services. The men were seen exiting the building that had a lock and a locked fence, police said.
They were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Kim Bagenstose, Hamburg, after failure to pay $100,000 bail.
