Teenager struck
in hit-run crash
PINE GROVE - A 14-year-old from Pine Grove suffered minor injuries when she was struck in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. as Concetta Metrovka, 73, of Pine Grove, was waiting at a bus stop at the end of Panther Valley Road at Mountain Road in Washington Township.
Police said that after picking up her granddaughter, Metrovka drove her 2011 Chevrolet Malibu east in reverse on Panther Valley Road and crossed from the eastbound lane over the center line, into the westbound lane and then into the berm of the road, where she struck the 14-year-old who was walking home from school.
Police said Metrovka failed to stop and continued to her house. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated by Pine Grove EMS.
No further details were available from police Wednesday.

Rt. 61 crash
DARKWATER - Two people suffered minor injuries when their vehicles collided at Route 61 and Darkwater Road in New Castle Township at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday.
State police at Frackville said Bridget Gaughan, 31, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier when she tried to turn left from Darkwater Road onto Route 61 north and entered the path of a 1991 Toyota being driven south on Route 61 by Ramon Ocasio, 73, of Reading.
Police said both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to a Pottsville area hospital by Saint Clair EMS units.
Gaughan will be cited as a result of the crash, police said.
Man charged
with robbery
TAMAQUA - Tamaqua police obtained an arrest warrant for a 44-year-old borough man on charges stemming from a robbery involving a knife outside of Freddy's Pub, 16 Mauch Chunk St., about 11 p.m. Friday.
Police said Roosevelt Warden, 400 N. Pine St., Side Door, was charged with three counts of robbery and one count each of unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Police said Warden approached Andrew Darrohn, 24, of Easton, who was standing outside the business, and asked him if he had a $20 bill for two $10 bills. Darrohn told officers he was on the telephone at the time and that as soon as he ended the call, Warden pulled out a knife, pressed it against the back of his neck and demanded his wallet and cellphone.
Police said Warden took Darrohn to the ground still using the knife and fled after getting the wallet and cellphone.
Witnesses and a security video taken of the area identified Warden as the attacker and police said the warrant was obtained for his arrest.
