Pottsville man

not hurt in crash

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A Pottsville man escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash at 10:25 a.m. Oct. 19 on Schuylkill Mountain Road in South Manheim Township, police said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred as a 2010 Ford Transit Connect, driven by Thomas J. Donlen Jr., 57, was traveling east on Schuylkill Mountain Road at approximately 40 mph. Police said Donlen crossed into the oncoming lane of travel and struck a grass embankment with the driver's side front end.

After impact, the vehicle spun, struck an embankment again with the passenger's side rear and continued to spin until it turned onto its driver's side and came to rest in the westbound lane.

Charges will be filed against Donlen with the office of Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg, police said.

Woman escapes

injury in crash

PINE GROVE - A Pine Grove woman escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash at 2:50 p.m. Friday on Spruce Drive near Tremont Road in Pine Grove Township, police said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred as a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Ashley E. Truscott, 19, of Pine Grove, was traveling south on Spruce Drive. While driving on a right curve, the rear of the vehicle began to slide.

Truscott overcompensated and the car spun counterclockwise from the south lane into the north lane and off the east berm until it struck an embankment with its left front. The vehicle traveled about 60 feet with its two left tires on the embankment until spinning 90 degrees and coming to rest in a ditch, police said.

Police said Truscott, who was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, faces charges in connection with the crash.
