Driver crashes

on wet roadway

WILLIAM PENN - State police at Frackville investigated a crash that occurred on Route 54, Mount Olive Boulevard, about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said Justin Richart, 117 N. Gilbert St., Shenandoah, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet too fast for the wet road conditions when he lost control, went off the road and hit a guide rail.

Richart was not injured but will be cited as a result of the crash, police said, adding that Shenandoah Police, William Penn firefighters and Lost Creek EMS assisted at the scene.

to face charges

TAMAQUA - A 21-year-old Shenandoah woman was charged with disorderly conduct by Tamaqua police after an incident at 131 W. Union St. about 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police said officers were called to the area for a custody issue and when they explained what action needed to be taken by both parents, the mother, Halley Leger, 15 N. Main St., was not happy, became aggravated and began to kick a parked car.

The woman then began to yell profanities at the father and was cited after refusing to stop after being asked several times, police said.

Leger will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, police said.

Teen to be charged

in 1-car crash

LEWISTOWN VALLEY - A 17-year-old Tamaqua boy suffered minor injuries when the 2000 Honda Civic he was driving crashed on Meadow Lane in Walker Township about 11:50 a.m. Sunday.

State police at Frackville said the boy was traveling east and driving to fast to make a right curve in the road.

The car went off the road onto the north shoulder and then struck a ditch and a small creek causing extensive damage to the front end, police said.

New England firefighters assisted in the removal of the vehicle and made sure no fluids leaked into the stream, police said.

Police said the teen will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed and have to answer before Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.
