n Gordon: Due to superstorm Sandy, trick-or-treat in the borough has been postponed until 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Mayor Nick Troutman. He added that trick-or-treat night in Ashland, Locustdale and Butler Township have also been postponed until Saturday.

n Kaska: Schuylkill Headwaters Association, in conjunction with Black Rock Motorsports, will host a cleanup even as part of Make a Difference Day. The event is slated for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Blythe Township. It will be below the Silver Creek reservoir in the township. This land is a common illegal dump site with drainage into the Schuylkill River and cleaning it will help keep trash out of waterways, according to an association press release. Volunteers of all ages are needed to help pick up trash, inventory it and take photos. Lunch will be provided. Those interested are asked to RSVP to cives@schuylkillheadwaters.org or call 570-622-3742, ext. 119.

n McAdoo: Three Marian Catholic School students were invited to observe the Oct. 9 meeting of the borough council as part of a government class project, according to Mayor Dane Watro. Marian seniors Tony Grega, Derek Gaughan and Theresa DeFebo took notes during the meeting after being introduced by Watro. Earlier, the students met with police Chief Jeff Wainwright for a look at police work and a tour of the department.

n Pottsville: Theresa Santai Gaffney, Schuylkill County register of wills, released the following report for September: Estates processed, 52; marriage licenses issued, 81; adoptions completed, one; inheritance tax remitted to the commonwealth, $413,859.40; county fees collected, $16,595.25.

n Pottsville: Family Night at the Pottsville Free Public Library at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 will feature local children's author Kevin McMurtrie and a reading of his book, "Have You Seen My Duck?" There will be games, crafts, snacks and prizes, Darren DeArment, the library's head of youth services, said in a release. The program is recommended for children 5 and older, their parents and caregivers. To register, call 570-622-8880. n Shenandoah: The annual Annunciation BVM Roman Catholic Parish Christmas Bazaar is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in the school hall of Trinity Academy in the Father Walter J. Ciszek Education Center, Cherry and Chestnut streets. The event, a major parish fundraiser, will include a theme gift basket and Chinese auction, a prize auction, homemade food, candy and baked goods. Everyone is welcome.

n Shenandoah: The Rescue Hook and Ladder Fire Company will sponsor a Hookies Basket Bingo Nov. 11 in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Parish Hall, Main and Oak streets. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo will begin at 2 p.m. There will be a buffet and door prizes. Tickets are $20 each and are available by calling the fire company at 570-462-9575 or Ed Banevich at 570-799-0403.

n Summit Station: During the week of Nov. 3-10, the Boy Scouts of America, Hawk Mountain Council, will conduct its annual Scouting for Food drive, collecting food donations for the needy throughout Schuylkill and Berks counties. The effort is sponsored by Associated Wholesalers Inc. and is the council's largest single service project. Bill Garrett, chief executive officer and Scout executive for the council, said in a press release the campaign is "vital to our local food banks and community organizations." On Saturday, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers from across Schuylkill County will place collection bags on doors throughout the region. The bags will contain a request for donations of nonperishable items. Scouts will return to pick up the bags on the morning of Nov. 10. Donations should be placed on doorsteps for pickup before 8:30 a.m. Needed food donations include canned items such as vegetables, meats, chili, soups or juices and baby formula. Boxed or bagged meals and pastas are also welcome. The ideal food donation would include one of each. Nothing that is perishable, frozen or in glass should be placed into the bags. Monetary donations cannot be accepted. After collecting the items, Scouts will distribute the food to local food banks, churches and other community organizations that support needy populations. If someone is missed in the collection, they may make a donation Nov. 10 at The Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation in Summit Station.
