n McAdoo: McAdoo Catholic Regional School will hold a holiday fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the school, 35 N. Cleveland St. The event will feature more than 25 vendors and crafters, pet and child photos with Santa Claus from 1 to 3 p.m., homemade soups, barbecue, chili, hot dogs, halushki, salsa and chips, hot and cold drinks and door prizes. Everyone is welcome.

n Pottsville: Theresa Santai Gaffney, Schuylkill County register of wills and clerk of the orphans' court, released the following report for October: Estates processed, 66; marriage licenses issued, 52; adoptions completed, 6; inheritance tax remitted to the commonwealth, $793,216.21; county fees collected, $15,329.

n Pottsville: The Pottsville Free Public Library recently acknowledged the following memorial donations: For Rita Downey from Cindy Janowski and kids; for Thomas Hoffman from Linda and Kurt Leiby, Ruth Leiby; for Sara Rile from John and Agnes Reiley.

n Pottsville: Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 S. Second St., will feature flutist Nora Suggs and organist Stephen Williams in its concert series at 4 p.m. Nov. 18. There will be no admission fee, but freewill offerings will be gratefully accepted. Everyone is welcome. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artists during a post-concert reception to be held in conjunction with the sixth annual Trinity Artists Exhibit. Trinity is accessible to the handicapped. For more information, call 570-622-8720. Also on Trinity's calendar are Advent lessons and carols at 4 p.m. Dec. 9.

n Shenandoah: So-called Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving regarded as one of the biggest shopping days of the year, will again feature the local Santa arrival blockbuster that has become one of the most popular holiday events in the county. Sponsored by Ateeco Inc., Shenandoah, manufacturer of Mrs. T's Pierogies, Santa and elves will skydive at noon into the Shenandoah Valley School District's Veterans Memorial Stadium at the borough's western end. The spectacle annually draws hundreds of local residents and visitors. Following the skydrop, Santa will be taken throughout the community aboard a firetruck in the annual arrival parade. In accordance with tradition, the jolly gent will head to the Anthony P. Damato American Legion "Medal of Honor" Post 792 at 116 N. Main St. where he will greet local children to gauge their Christmas wish lists. Later that evening, the revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc. will stage the annual Christmas tree lighting and Charles Dickens Vignettes at American Legion Memorial Garden adjacent to the Damato building in the 100 block of North Main Street. Festivities will include horse-drawn carriage rides and music. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call DSI at 570-462-2060.

n Shenandoah: Food donations are still needed at the offices of parishes, which provide packages of groceries and diapers to local people in need. Donations of nonperishable food items can be deposited in any of the Catholic churches on weekends, in boxes provided in the foyers/vestibules. Examples of useful items include tuna, Spam, canned meats, powdered milk, peanut butter and jelly, cereal and similar fare. The offices of parishes are at 129 S. Jardin St. and 108 W. Cherry St. They serve Annunciation BVM, St. George, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Mary Magdalen, St. Stanislaus, St. Stephen and St. Casimir Roman Catholic parishes.

n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Historical Society Museum, 118 W. Broad St., is open to the public from 7 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday. People are welcome to browse the museum's collection of local historical artifacts and other items. To tour the museum at other times, appointments must be arranged.
