n McAdoo: The McAdoo Fire Company Inc. will again hold its Operation Santa Claus visits in the community, with Santa will go around Dec. 6 through 9. Reservations can be made by calling Tony Vigna at 570-929-2642. The deadline for reservations is Nov. 29. There is no charge for the visit, but donations will be appreciated by the firefighters. The company also is organizing its annual holiday memorial wall and Christmas tree. The wall will be constructed in front of the flag pole area on South Kennedy Drive and the McAdoo Machine Shop. Anyone wishing to sponsor a name and light in memory of a family, family member or friend can do so. The name will be placed on the memorial wall and a light will be placed on the tree. The tree will be lit on Sunday during the afternoon. The wall and tree will remain through the holiday season to show everyone who travels through McAdoo and Kline Township that friends and family are not forgotten during the holidays, according to a company release. The tree colors will be white and blue. Anyone who would like to sponsor a name and bulb or get more information should contact Dan Leshko at 570-929-3399. Saturday is the deadline to submit names.
n Orwigsburg: The Orwigsburg Area Free Public Library will hold its 34th annual Holly Trail on Dec. 1. According to a library release, this year the tour will include four residences, a church and a local business. Also, various local churches and businesses are inviting participants to stop and visit. Tickets can be purchased at the library, 214 E. Independence St., at $15 each through Nov. 30 and $20 as of Dec. 1. A tea and wreath auction at the Schuylkill Country Club, 877 W. Market St., will be new this year. The event is a major fundraiser for the library, with proceeds used to buy new books and for general operating expenses.
