n Frackville: Frackville Rotary Club member Noreen O'Boyle said the club has moved its Cinderella's Closet from its former location in the Sears wing of the Schuylkill Mall to a storefront adjacent to GNC Nutrition Center. O'Boyle thanked Rotarians and volunteers who helped move more than 1,000 gowns, glass cases and racks to the new location. The next Cinderella's Closet is set for Feb. 26.
n Millersburg: The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art will host its second annual Chili & Blues event at 7 p.m. Friday at the Wooden Nickel Restaurant, 210 S. Market St. In a release, Alexis Dow Campbell, center director of creative programming, said the evening will feature the musical stylings of area favorite HotWingJones. Tickets are $22 for center members and $25 for nonmembers and will include all of the chili you can eat. A cash bar will be available. n Schuylkill Haven: The Schuylkill Haven Jaycees will stage a food-and-supply drive beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 11 to benefit Hillside SPCA, Pottsville. n Shenandoah: A borough ordinance requires that people who walk pets on public sidewalks clean up after them. Those who do not are in violation of the law and can face a fine. Pet owners may not allow their animals to roam in the borough unleashed or out of control. Driving ATVs on public streets or areas where they are not allowed, such as parks or private property, also is unlawful. Anyone who witnesses such violations is asked to contact municipal authorities.
n Summit Hill: The initial Feed the People program was held recently at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 W. Hazard St. The new program was started by community members to provide a hot meal for anyone in need. The program includes Summit Hill and Lansford boroughs in Carbon County and Coaldale borough in Schuylkill County.
n Tamaqua: St. Jerome Regional School will accept registrations for kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2012-13 school year during Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 30 to Feb. 3. Registration times will be 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 30, Feb. 1 and Feb. 3; 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 2. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by Oct. 15. The school also announced that the Bishop's Commission on Catholic Schools will offer $1,500 tuition transfer grants to any parishioner who transfers their child into second to seventh grades from any private or public school.
