Scranton man

charged by police

MINERSVILLE - A Scranton man was arrested by Minersville police in connection with an incident that occurred in June.

Police said John Thomas Eavarone, 22, no known address, is a Megan's Law lifetime offender and left his address of 561 Sunbury St., Minersville, but failed to notify police of a change in address.

Eavarone was recently tracked down in Scranton and taken into custody by Minersville police and Scranton police, police said.

He was charged with failure to comply with Megan's Law requirements, arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $25,000 bail, police said.

LYKENS - State police at Lykens are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred in the parking lot of Lykens American Legion Post, 450 Main St., in Dauphin County between 11 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday.

Police said Miranda L. Mauser, Elizabethville, reported someone smashed the driver's side rear window of her Ford Focus while it was parked in the area using a 5-inch rock.

Police said the person doing the damage apparently cut themselves in the process.

Police charge man

with assault

LLEWELYN - Branch-Reilly police arrested Scott G. Killian, 22, of 1015 Bunting St., Llewellyn, for allegedly assaulting his father Nov. 17.

Police said Killian hit his 43-year-old father in the head with a full bottle of beer, breaking the bottle and sending his father to the hospital.

Before leaving the house, police said the younger Killian threatened to return and kill his father and siblings.

While officers were at the scene, the younger Killian returned but fled and crashed his SUV near Ramtown Road in Phoenix Park, and fled on foot, police said.

Scott Killian later returned to his father's home and vandalized the downstairs by breaking furniture and damaging the floors, police said, adding that he was taken into custody leaving the home by officers who were checking on the property, police said.

Killian was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing or attempting to elude police, terroristic threats and numerous traffic violations, police said.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.

Officers from Minersville, Cass and Foster townships assisted, police said.

unlocked vehicle

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS - West Mahanoy Township police are investigating a theft from a vehicle that occurred at 100 Pennsylvania Ave. between Friday and Sunday.

Police said Christine Hanlon reported someone entered her vehicle while it was parked at her home and stole a wallet containing $30 and prescription medications.

Police said the vehicle was unlocked at the time and ask that anyone with information contact them through the Schuylkill County Communications Center by calling 570-462-1992.

W. Mahanoy crash

RAVEN RUN - West Mahanoy Township police said Monday three people are facing charges after a crash on Oct. 20 on Raven Run Road.

Police said Anthony Stanitis, 20, of 128 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, was driving a 2000 Toyota 4Runner ETA when he failed to make a turn, crossed over the westbound lane and struck a pillar at old St. Casmir Cemetery, coming to a stop on its roof.

A blood test taken at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, showed that Stanitis had an alcohol level of 0.257 at the time of the crash, police said.

Stanitis will be charged with DUI while his two passengers, Eric Whalen, 311 E. Centre St., Shenandoah, and Curtis Rooney, 114 N. White St., Shenandoah, will be charged with underage drinking.

Lost Creek EMS, Shenandoah ALS, Shenandoah Heights and William Penn firefighters assisted at the scene.

3 escape injury

in 2-vehicle crash

JONESTOWN - Three people escaped injury in a two-vehicle crash on Route 72, at Jonestown Road in Union Township, Lebanon County, at 9:01 a.m. Nov. 16.

State police at Jonestown said Eileen Billman, 60, of Jonestown, was driving a 2000 Ford Windstar west on Jonestown Road when she failed to stop for a red light and drove into the path of a 2011 Ford F-150 that was being driven north on Route 72 by Paul Martin, 65, of Frackville.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Billman vehicle were not hurt, police said, adding that Billman will be cited as a result of the crash.

Woman charged

with DUI

HOMETOWN - Rush Township police filed charges against Diane M. Robert, 40, of Coaldale, in connection with an incident at 2:40 p.m. Nov. 9.

Police said Robert will be charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and endangering the welfare of children after she was stopped driving on Claremont Avenue.

The woman was taken to St. Luke's-Miners Campus, where a blood test determined she had an alcohol level of 0.125-percent, police said.
