Police said Artensia Ewing, Allentown, was driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica south when she said she hit a patch of black ice, causing her to lose control. The car went off the road and onto the berm, where it struck and sheared a utility pole causing wires to fall to the ground, police said.

Domestic incident results in charges

FRACKVILLE - A 51-year-old borough man is free on bail after being arrested by Frackville police following a domestic incident at his home about 10 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Michael Jenkins, 147 N. Balliet St., was arraigned on charges of two misdemeanor counts of sim-ple assault and a summary offense of harassment. He was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Police said Jenkins called police to report a domestic incident during which he claimed his wife punched him and threw a television set to the floor. At the scene police said they tried to speak to the woman, Annette Jenkins, who said she wanted to contact an attorney first and made several telephone calls before speaking to the officers.

The woman finally said that her husband was making rude comments to her and told her to get out, police said. Police said Annette Jenkins said her husband got furious at her and shoved her into a chest of drawers that the television set was sitting on top of and then hit her.

Police said Annette Jenkins had visible marks and bruises on her arms and also claimed to have another bruise on her chest as a result of the incident.

Michael Jenkins will have to answer to the charges against him before Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, Frackville, police said.
