Police looking for men who robbed woman outside Mahanoy City grocery store

MAHANOY CITY - Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers and Mahanoy City police are asking for the public's help in finding two men responsible for a strong-arm robbery in the borough last month.

Police said the incident occurred about 6:15 p.m. Nov. 20 in the parking lot of Agosti's Mahanoy City Food Store at Main and Pine streets.

Police said a borough woman exited the store and while walking to her vehicle, two men ran up behind her.

One of the men pulled the woman's pink Vera Bradley wrist purse from her hand and the two fled the area west on Pine Street and then south on Locust Street.

The man who stole the purse is described as being white, between 18 and 21 years old, 5 feet 8 inches or 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hoodie, jeans, sneakers and a hat, police said.

The second man was described as having darker skin and facial hair and was wearing a dark blue hoodie, police said, adding that one of the two also had a skateboard with him.

Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information on the identity of the two people responsible for this robbery or on any other unsolved crime in Schuylkill County.

Callers are asked to refer to incident 12-09-12 when calling with information about the strong-arm robbery in Mahanoy City.
