MINERSVILLE - A 31-year-old Mount Carmel man was jailed Friday after being arrested by Minersville police on drug charges.
Police said Christopher F. Huth, 216 W. Second St., was arraigned on one felony count of delivery of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Huth was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on both $50,000 bail and also on a probation warrant for being an absconder from parole.
Police said an ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal drugs in the borough learned that Huth had methamphetamine for sale.
Arrangements were made to purchase the drug, police said they learned Huth would be delivering the drug from Mount Carmel and that he would want $100 for the illegal narcotics and an additional $10 for gas money.
Police said an undercover officer was provided with $110 in pre-recorded money and at 1:34 p.m. met Huth at Miners Lane and South Water Street.
It was there police said the officer walked to the car and Huth, a back seat passenger, exited the car and handed him a Zip Loc-style baggie with black spades on it. The bag contained methamphetamine, police said adding that Huth told the officer "It's good stuff, its crystal." After getting the narcotics police said the officer left the area and Huth also departed after getting back in to the car he came in.
The car drove off onto South Second Street and was pulled over by police on Westwood Street where Huth was found in possession of the pre-recorded money.
The substance sold by Huth to the undercover officer was field tested and gave a positive indication for methamphetamine, police said, adding that it then secured as evidence and prepared for transport to the state police crime laboratory in Bethlehem.
