Pottsville Rotary
Nativity BVM High School seniors Cassidy Donlin and Christopher Donnelly and Pottsville Area High School seniors Tiffany Cheng and Eric Yoder were named students of the month for December by the Pottsville Rotary Club.
Cassidy is a daughter of Michael and Donna Donlin, Saint Clair, where she is active with First United Methodist Church. She is involved in varsity cheerleading and is a member of the varsity softball team. She has received varsity letters and attained a perfect attendance award for the 2011-12 school year.
Cassidy plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, and earn an associate degree in radiology.
Christopher is a son of Linda and Larry Donnelly, Schuylkill Haven, and attends St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, where he has been active in many activities for nearly 12 years. He is involved with the varsity soccer team, where he was named most valuable defensive player, track and field team and art, Interact and drama clubs.
Christopher received first place in the Fort McHenry Patriotism essay contest and the Citizen Award from the Knights of Columbus. He plans to earn a degree in psychology and attend law school.
Tiffany is a daughter of Michelle and Chak Cheng, Pottsville. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.
Tiffany is also a four-year member and president of Key Club, a four-year member and captain of varsity tennis, a four-year member and treasurer of the Spanish Club and a four-year member of the Pottsville Area jazz band. She is a three-year member of AIA and student council.
Tiffany volunteers at First United Presbyterian Church and Schuylkill Valley High School, Leesport, where she is a Chinese teaching assistant. She plans to attend Boston University and pursue a dual major in biology and music performance.
Eric is a son of Gregory and Leah Yoder, Port Carbon, and is senior class vice president. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Envirothon and Quiz Team.
Eric won first place in the VFW Essay Contest his senior year and placed second in 10th and 11th grades. He has been in Romans 12 for the past four years, along with the Child Evangelical Program and United Nations Pilgrimage.
He plans to attend an area university and major in political science or psychology with a minor in English.
Frackville Rotary
Madeline Domalakes, daughter of Paul and Patti Domalakes, Frackville, was honored as Frackville Rotary Club's student of the month for November at a breakfast meeting at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant at the Schuylkill Mall.
A junior at Nativity BVM High School, Madeline is currently ranked first in her class. She is a member of the drama club, school newspaper, concert chorus, Rotary Interact Club, liturgy choir and creative writing group.
A member of Annunciation BVM Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, where she participates in the choir and teaches CCD classes, she is also a volunteer at the Frackville Historical Museum and helps to maintain the landscape at the Frackville garden known as "Patti's Patch."
Madeline is the cultural chairwoman of the Knights of Lithuania Anthracite Council 144. Last summer, she studied in England through a program with Hillside College.
After graduating from high school, Madeline plans to pursue a degree in history.
