faces charges
McADOO - McAdoo police charged a 35-year-old Wyalusing woman with possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident on North Kennedy Drive about 10 p.m. Dec. 4, 2012.
Police said Tuesday that Kristan Jacobusi, 549 Hay Road, will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Police said officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic stop and found Jacobusi with a needle and spoon in her wallet.
Sugarloaf man
faces charges
McADOO - A 21-year-old Sugarloaf man was charged by McAdoo police after an incident on East Blaine Street at 1:40 a.m. Dec. 15, 2012.
Police said Robert J. Carelli Jr., 25 Twain Circle, will have to answer before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, on charges of DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and scattering rubbish.
Police said they stopped a vehicle driven by Carelli for a traffic violation and detected a smell of both alcohol and marijuana inside the vehicle.
Carelli admitted drinking alcohol and also smoking marijuana and police said officers also found marijuana "blunts" inside the vehicle.
Scranton woman
charged with DUI
McADOO - McAdoo police charged a 22-year-old Scranton woman with DUI after an incident on East Blaine Street around 1 a.m. Dec. 28, 2012.
Police said Kristi L. Raymer, 1331 Dartmouth St., will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Police said Raymer and her passenger were sitting inside a running vehicle with the lights on for about 30 minutes and officers went to see if anything was wrong.
Officers detected an odor of alcohol from inside the vehicle and administered a breath test to Raymer that determined she had an alcohol level of 0.124-percent. Raymer was then taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street where she submitted to a blood alcohol test, police said.
Drums man
charged for drugs
McADOO - A 38-year-old Drums man was charged by McAdoo police after a traffic stop on North Kennedy Drive in the borough about 2:05 a.m. Jan. 6.
Police said Keith Capizzo, 62 Teaberry Drive, was charged with DUI-controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and general lighting requirements.
Police said officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Capizzo for an equipment violation and detected a strong odor of alcohol from inside.
Capizzo, police said, showed signs of being under the influence, failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
When asked if he had anything illegal, police said the man handed over a bag of marijuana and during a subsequent conversation with his wife, the woman handed over a grinder with marijuana in it, police said.
Hazleton man
charged with DUI
McADOO - McAdoo police charged a 38-year-old Hazleton man after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for an equipment violation on North Kennedy Drive at 12:20 a.m. Nov. 17, 2012.
Police said Monday that Jackson Rosario, 898 N. Vine St., was charged with DUI, DUI-high rate, period for requiring lighted lamps, careless driving and restrictions on alcoholic beverages.
Police said they stopped a car driven by Rosario for having a headlight out and detected an odor of alcohol on the man.
After failing a field sobriety test, police said, the man was given a breath test that determined he had an alcohol level of 0.124-percent. He was then taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for a blood alcohol test, police said.
Saint Clair man
injured in crash
POTTSVILLE - A 47-year-old Saint Clair man injured his back after falling asleep behind the wheel of a blue 2010 Subaru Impreza and flipping the vehicle after hitting a parked vehicle near 925 Pottsville Street, Mechanicsville, at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Richard Neade was traveling east on Pottsville Street when he fell asleep and struck the rear of brown 1990 Sunbaru Loyale, owned by Walter Thomas.
Police said after the initial impact, the Loyale struck a fence on the property of David Evert, 923 Pottsville Street.
Police said Neade was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street. Charges are pending an ongoing investigation, police said.
Police were assisted on scene by Yorkville Fire Department and Port Carbon Good Will Fire Department.
Police probe
hit-run crash
HIGHRIDGE - Two people escaped injury when the car they were in was hit by a tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81, near mile marker 119 in Cass Township, at 8:45 p.m. Friday.
State police at Frackville said Debra Aranmolate, 50, of Laurel, Md., was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry north in the right lane when a tractor-trailer started to pass her, veered into her lane, struck the woman's car and continued north without stopping.
The car sustained damage to the driver's side mirror, front bumper and driver's side fender, police said.
Aranmolate and her passenger, Gilbert Francis, 64, of New Carrollton, Md., both escaped injury, police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 570-874-5300.
Canadians okay
in I-81 crash
RAVINE - Two Canadian residents were not hurt when the 2012 tractor-trailer they were in crashed on a foggy Interstate 81, at mile marker 104.1 in Tremont Township, at 11:35 p.m. Sunday.
State police at Jonestown said William McClean, 62, of Belle River, Prince Edward Island, was driving south in the right lane when he struck a boulder on the highway. The truck traveled across the left lane and went off the road where it drove along a guide rail and came to a stop off the left side of the road.
McClean and his passenger, Iain Fisher, 46, of Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, both escaped injury in the crash, police said.
Saint Clair man
charged in crash
WADESVILLE - A 34-year-old Saint Clair man escaped injury in a DUI-related crash at 1219 Wade Road in New Castle Township about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, state police at Frackville said.
Police said Allen Harig was driving a 2006 Mercedes C280 east and turned onto Birch Street but was driving too fast for conditions. The car went off the road and struck the top of a concrete retaining wall and then the west side of a home at 1219 Wade Road before coming to a stop.
Harig fled the scene on foot but was soon found at his home where he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and damage to the home listed as minor, police said, adding that Harig will be cited as a result of the crash and that DUI charges are pending as well.
