Police probe theft

of laptop, games

GIRARDVILLE - State police at Frackville are investigating a burglary that occurred between noon and 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Preston Avenue.

Police said that someone forced their way into a home belonging to Bobbi Jo Leatherman, Girardville, and stole a laptop and Sony Playstation games.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 570-874-5300.

2 teen girls face

conduct charges

ORWIGSBURG - A 16-year-old female of Orwigsburg and a 16-year-old female of Schuylkill Haven were charged with disorderly conduct following an incident at 9:35 a.m. Friday at Blue Mountain High School, 1076 W. Market St., North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuyklill Haven said the girls became involved in a physical fight in the school and were restrained from each other by a staff member.

Charges will be filed through the office of Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.

Auburn woman

charged in crash

AUBURN - A Auburn woman escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash at 4:20 a.m. Friday on Route 895 just east of Woodland Drive in South Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred as Angela Emery, 32, of Auburn, driving a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, was traveling eastbound on Route 895 on a straightaway.

She lost control of the vehicle, exited the road to the south and the driver's side of the vehicle hit a utility pole, shearing it in half, police said.

Wearing a seatbelt, Emery was not injured, but her vehicle sustained disabling damage and the driver's side air bag deployed.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

She will be cited for a summary traffic violation through the office of Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg, police said.

Assisting on the scene were Deer Lake and West Brunswick Fire Department personnel, police said.

Theft of GPS,

calculator probed

NEW PHILADELPHIA - State police at Frackville area investigating a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred between 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday at 60 Valley St.

Police said that someone broke into a 2001 Dodge Ram belonging to Harvey Shire Brubacher of Brubacher Seamless Gutters, 28, of Fleetwood, and stole a Garmin Nuvi 2350 GPS and a Construction Master calculator.

The items were valued at $229, police said.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary that occurred between 12:05 and 12:20 a.m. Monday at Just Your Style, 217 N. Route 183, in Wayne Township.

Police said someone pried open a rear door of the business, entered and then stole the coin tray from a cash box that contained about $22.

After taking the tray, the thief fled the building through the back door, police said.

3 injured in

Hometown crash

HOMETOWN - Rush Township police investigated a crash that occurred at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday on Hauto Highway.

Police said Mikisha T. Acevedo, 24, of Lansford, was driving a 2002 Kia west when she lost control, crossed the center line and collided head-on with an oncoming 2012 Chevrolet driven by Daniel Hottenstein, 32, of West Hazleton.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Acevedo vehicle, Michelle Yett, Lansford, were all taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus, Coaldale, for treatment of injuries they suffered in the crash, police said.

2 Tamaqua men

injured in crash

HOMETOWN - A crash that occurred at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Claremont Avenue and Dennison Street is being investigated by Rush Township police.

Police said Ashley Bartoli, Hometown, was driving on Claremont Avenue when she tried to turn onto Dennison Street and in doing so drove into the path of a vehicle that was being driven north on Claremont Avenue by John Heemaneth, 26, of Tamaqua.

Heemaneth and his passenger, Shawn Major, Tamaqua, were injured in the crash and taken to St. Luke's Hospital- Miners Campus, Coaldale, for treatment, police said.

Saint Clair man

charged, jailed

SAINT CLAIR - A 35-year-old Saint Clair man was arrested by borough police after a domestic incident at 128 S. Second St. about 8:50 p.m. Jan. 12.

Police said Daniel Starr was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, on charges of simple assault and resisting arrest. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $10,000 bail, police said.

Police said officers were called to the home for a domestic incident and found Starr highly intoxicated and Tanya Cicero, Saint Clair, in the living room crying and visibly upset. The woman had visible physical injuries as well as a ripped sweatshirt, police said.

When police tried to take Starr into custody he began fighting and resisting and kicked the two officers in the process.

Saint Clair man

found trespassing

SAINT CLAIR - A 21-year-old Saint Clair man was arrested by Saint Clair police after an incident at 302 Cherry St. about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 5 and an unrelated incident on Jan. 10.

Police said officers received a call from Chelsea Socks, Saint Clair, that William L. Quigley was inside her home uninvited.

In June, police said Quigley was formally issued a "no trespassing" order that he signed in the presence of Thomas Hale, director of the Schuylkill County Housing Authority, police said.

Arriving at the home, police said officers located Quigley in a small crawl space, took him into custody and charged him with trespassing.

Then, on Jan. 10, police said officers were called to the 300 block of Cherry Street for a large fight and determined that Quigley was again on county property, this time inside 328 Cherry St., with no permission to be there.

He was taken into custody, arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, police said, adding that Quigley also had an Adult Probation detainer placed on him, which ensures that Quigley will remain incarcerated until further action is taken by the Schuylkill County Probation Office.

Firefighter faces

arson charges

VIRGINVILLE - A volunteer firefighter from the Virginville Fire Company was arrested by state police at Reading and charged with lighting a fire at the Bank of New York, 279 Schappell Road in Windsor Township, Berks County, on July 22, 2008.

Police said Kellen D. Klee, 23, of Hamburg, was arraigned on charges of arson and related offenses before Magisterial District Judge Kim Bagenstose and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

State police fire marshal Trooper Michael Yeity said that about 4:15 a.m. Klee intentionally splashed a flammable liquid on the exterior of an attached garage and lit the vapors on fire.

Klee then called 911 to report the fire and had his protective firefighting equipment with him and assisted in extinguishing the fire, Yeity said.
