Leesport man

escapes injury

FRIEDENSBURG - A Leesport man escaped injury following a one-vehicle crash at 3:55 p.m. Saturday on Schuylkill Mountain Road at Miller Drive in Wayne Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said that Kyle J. Stricker, 27, of Leesport, driving a 2011 Subaru Impreza, was traveling west on Schuylkill Mountain Road and lost control on a sharp left turn.

He left the road, traveled onto the westbound berm, across Miller Drive then its right front tire struck a large rock, police said.

With the wheel broken from its axel in the collision, it traveled another 125 feet west and came to rest blocking the westbound lane of Schuylkill Mountain Road, police said.

A citation against Stricker will be filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.

Ringtown man

injured in crash

MAHANOY CITY - James A. Antonelli, 46, of Ringtown, was flown to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a one-vehicle DUI crash at 3:07 a.m. Sunday on Route 339 in Mahanoy Township.

State police at Frackville said Antonelli was traveling north on Route 339 and failed to make a right turn, then exited the west berm and overturned multiple times while traveling through the wooded area.

The vehicle came to rest about 100 feet into the woods on its roof facing south, police said.

Police said they observed a strong alcoholic odor from Antonelli's breath.

He was flown via Medvac to Geisinger for a back injury and lacerations, police said.

Charges are pending blood test results.

Woman to face

charges in crash

BUCK RUN - A 25-year-old Mount Carmel woman faces charges following a rollover crash at 6:40 p.m. Saturday on I-81 north in Foster Township.

State police at Frackville said Hali Lynn Matzura, 25, driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling north on I-81 and weaving in the lane erratically.

She swerved off the right lane across the northbound shoulder and into a ditch, police said.

Her vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its roof, police said.

She climbed out and was observed stumbling near the truck by passing motorists, who also saw her attempt to bury a purse in the snow, police said.

The purse was recovered containing drug paraphernalia and possible drug packets, police said.

Matzura was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center for blood testing, police said.

She suffered minor cuts on her hands from the crash, police said.

Charges will be filed pending blood test results, police said.

Police probe

hotel burglary

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary at Room 1204 of the Days Inn, 1476 Route 61 South in North Manheim Township that occurred between noon Saturday and 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said David Natale, Auburn reported someone entered a room he rented for the week and removed a Vizio 24-inch flat screen television set.
