City woman

charged in crash

SAINT CLAIR - A Pottsville woman and an Ashland man escaped injury following a two-vehicle crash at 6:31 a.m. Saturday on Route 61 in New Castle Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred near Dark Water Road in front of Gas Way gas station as a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by Almeda L. Kline, 67, of Pottsville, attempted to enter Route 61 from the gas station.

A 1998 Peterbilt 379 truck, driven by Jason W. Zerbe, 27, of Ashland, was traveling north on Route 61 in the right lane, police said.

When Kline entered the right lane, Zerbe's driver side front of the truck struck the front end of Kline's vehicle, police said.

Kline's vehicle then came to rest with the front end partially in the right lane and Zerbe's vehicle north of Kline's vehicle on the right shoulder, police said.

Kline faces charges from the crash, police said.

Assisting at the scene was Saint Clair Fire Department.

Pine Grove man

injured in crash

TREMONT - A 20-year-old Pine Grove man was flown to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with moderate head injuries after the vehicle he was driving crashed on Route 125, just north of Echo Valley Campground in Tremont Township, at 5:25 a.m. Sunday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Timothy Fritz was driving south when he fell asleep while rounding a slight curve, causing his vehicle to cross the northbound lane, go off of the road and hit an embankment.

The man was trapped in his vehicle and removed by Pine Grove firefighters. He was treated at the scene by Tremont EMS and West Schuylkill ALS and flown to Hershey Medical Center by helicopter, police said.

Charges against Fritz are pending the results of toxicology tests, police said.

Boy arrested

for harassment

HAMBURG - A 17-year-old Hamburg boy was arrested by state police at Hamburg and charged with harassment after a domestic violence incident that occured on Windsor Castle Road in Windsor Township, Berks County, at 2:45 p.m. Monday.

Police said the teen will have to answer to the charge in Berks County district court.

Police said the teen became involved in an argument with his brother and when their grandmother tried to intervene she was pushed by the teen.
