The Pennsylvania State Police are offering the public a smartphone app for reporting suspicious activity that may be associated with terrorism.

Photos and written messages can be sent through the free app, released earlier this month and called "See Something, Send Something," for the iPhone and Android.

"It just gives another avenue that law enforcement can collect information," David Boehm, public information officer and state police trooper of Troop L, Reading, said.

Developed by My Mobile Wireless, the app sends tips related to terrorism to the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center, which was established by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation 10 years ago.

Beohm said about 50 times people have sent information through the system since it was available. Information is discarded from the phone and the system after it is sent.
