n Pottsville: The Pottsville Free Public Library recently acknowledged the following memorial donations: for Angeline Dudish from the Wojciechowsky family; for David O. Jones from Dr. and Mrs. William R. Davidson, Dorothy and Joe Stangl; for David Reese from Virginia J. Reese; for Andrew Dudish from the Wojciechowsky family.

n Shenandoah: The Harlem Clowns comedy basketball team will play in the Shenandoah Valley High School Gymnasium at 5 p.m. Feb. 24. Doors will open at 4 p.m. According to a press release, "Fans will be captivated by 'ShowBoat' Robinson's team's basketball wizardry, hilarious antics and fan interaction, all presented by some of the world's greatest athletes and entertainers ..." n Shenandoah: St. Michael and St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic churches will host an exhibit of the authentic Vatican replica of the Shroud of Turin, which many faithful believe to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, Feb. 24 to March 9 at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 114 S. Chestnut St. Exhibit hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. All are welcome. n Shenandoah: The St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church Auxiliary will sponsor a Lenten dinner from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in the parish hall, Main and Oak streets. The cost is $8 for a dinner, choice of deviled crab or fish. Dinners also include beverage and dessert. Patrons may eat in the hall or take meals out. Tickets are available at both offices of parishes, South Jardin Street and West Cherry Street. n Valley View: Wally Rebuck and Conrad Bossler, co-chairmen of the American Legion Post 575 Ex-Servicemen's Club Charitable Gifts Committee, announced via press release the distribution of charitable gifts to various local organizations that have a positive impact on the Tri-Vally community. All the funds, according to the release, were distributed in 2012 from earnings from small games of chance conducted at the post. The total was $11,569.95 and the distribution was as follows: Hegins Area Ambulance, $550; Hegins Fire Company, $50; Tri-Valley School District, $1,500; Children's Miracle Network, $1,000; "Recreation/Forces," $760; Tri-Valley Public Library, $300; St. John Food Closet, $500; Christmas outreach, $800; Little Blessings Day Care, $250; Legion Baseball recognition, $150; Boy Scouts Troop 622, $4,000; Hegins Police Department, $134.95; Tri-Valley wrestling, $75; Pitman Ambulance, $500; Tri-Valley Charities, $250; Trinity Lutheran Day Care, $250. Valid charitable organizations may contact the committee to be included in the 2013 distribution of funds.

n Zion Grove: The Shenandoah Fish & Game Protective Association recently held its installation of officers and trustees. Officers for the 2013-14 term are Howard Mummey, president; Robert Grebloski, vice president; Robert Glinskas, recording secretary; Joseph Sherlin, financial secretary; Robert Pukavage, treasurer. Trustees include Brian Davidson, John Foley, Ken Gibbons, Travis Houser and Donald Puhl. The association was founded on April 20, 1910, and has more than 1,000 members primarily from Schuylkill, Luzerne and Columbia counties. In addition to the fish and game stocking programs, the association sponsors several social events through out the year. Members are reminded that the next meeting is Feb. 18 and that all dues and financial obligations for 2013 must be paid in full by that date.
