Police investigate hit-and-run

TREMONT - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Hazle Street, just west of North Pine Street, about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police said someone was driving in the area when they struck the driver's side quarter panel and bumper of a parked 1997 Cadillac and fled the area.

The Cadillac, which police said was legally parked along the east shoulder of the street, sustained minor scratches.

Woman charged with harassment

TREMONT - An incident that occurred on West Main Street on Saturday resulted in harassment charges being filed against a 28-year-old borough woman.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Victoria Morgan will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont.

Police said Morgan shoved a mattress into Eric Salen, 32, of Pottsville, as he was standing in a hallway outside of the woman's apartment.

The mattress struck Salen in the nose causing minor redness, police said.

Equipment stolen from ball field

MIDDLEPORT - State police at Frackville are investigating a burglary that occurred at Schuylkill Valley Legion Sports Inc., South Nicholas Street between noon on Jan. 5 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 27.

Police said someone stole a Husqvarna Model 445 18-inch 46cc chain saw, a Remington R300 nail gun and a soldering torch and wire from the concession stand at the baseball field.

Police said the thieves forced their way into the concession stand, removed the items and then fled the area undetected.
