A 34-year-old Ashland man charged with entering two Saint Clair businesses and causing a disturbance in each on Sept. 23, 2012, is among those who pleaded not guilty during arraignment in Schuylkill County Court.
John J. Magdeburg of 23 S. Hoffman Blvd. was arrested by Saint Clair police Patrolman Frank DiMarco and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
DiMarco said he was called around 9 p.m. about a man on Route 61 yelling at passing vehicles and was redirected to the Dunkin' Donuts store nearby.
DiMarco said he found Magdeburg inside on the floor yelling for help. Before EMS could arrive, DiMarco said the man fled the store toward Wal-Mart.
DiMarco said Magdeburg was also lying on the floor in Wal-Mart yelling for help. When he tried to place handcuffs on Magdeburg, he resisted and tried to kick another officer who was in the store to assist.
Magdeburg was finally overpowered and placed in handcuffs but continued to fight with police, and then EMS personnel, forcing police to use their Taser weapons to subdue him and transport him to a local hospital, DiMarco said.
At the hospital, Magdeburg was admitted and found to have marijuana in his blood stream, DiMarco said.
