Schuylkill County is now under a winter weather advisory until 7 a.m. Saturday as Winter Storm Nemo is expected to blanket most of Central Pennsylvania with 4 to 8 inches of snow.

From earlier:

In Schuylkill County, the forecast calls for 2 to 5 inches of snow, according to John LaCorte, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service at State College.

"You will see some light snow after midnight (Thursday) and it will continue off and on at times before (Friday) night," LaCorte said Thursday evening. "It will be a small plowable snow, but it's not going to be something we remember for years to come."

The NWS forecast said light snow will develop this morning and will become heavy at times in the afternoon before ending early Saturday. Winds will be northwest from 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Temperatures today will range from a high near 35 degrees and a low about 21 degrees. More severe weather is expected higher north along the East Coast in areas like New York and New England.

As significant snowfall is expected to cover roads, driving conditions will be slippery with poor visibility. The state Department of Transportation said traveling will be dangerous and if you must drive, to keep an extra an flashlight, food, blankets and a cellphone in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
