n Frackville: Classes on the Ukrainian egg decorating art called pysanky will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25 in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, West Oak Street. The cost is $20 and people 12 and older are welcome. The class is limited to 20 people. To register, call Donna at 570-874-3777.

n Deer Lake: Deer Lake and West Brunswick Fire Company will hold a cash bingo Tuesday at the fire company hall, 1 Ash Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games being at 6 p.m.

n Port Carbon: The Port Carbon Janet Eich Public Library is planning a Chinese auction for noon to 2 p.m. March 24. A shop-and-drop is set for 1 to 4 p.m. March 23 at the First United Methodist Church, Pike and Washington streets. Coordinator Janet Eich said in a release donated new items will be appreciated and can be dropped off at the library as soon as possible.

n Pottsville: A "Team Olivia Valentine Italian Dinner" is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church to raise funds to defray medical expenses for Olivia Bensinger, who has been diagnosed with leukemia. Her treatment is being handle by Penn State Milton F. Hershey Medical Center. The cost of the dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. There is no charge for children 5 and younger. Everyone is welcome.

n Pottsville: Schuylkill County Treasurer Jacqueline V. McGovern has issued a press release reminding county dog owners that 2013 dog licenses are past due. State law, she said in the release, requires that all dogs 3 months or older be licensed by Jan. 1. Failure to do so is a summary offense and could bring a maximum fine of $500 for each unlicensed dog. An annual license is $8.45 and a lifetime licenses is $51.45. Discounts are available for senior citizens and people with disabilities. State dog wardens, she said, will begin canvassing neighborhoods beginning March 1. License applications are available at McGovern's office or at various sites referred to as dog agents. A list of local dog agents and downloadable license applications are available online at www.co.schuylkill.pa.us/Offices/Treasurer/Treasurer.asp. People may also go online to buy their licenses at PADogLicense.com.

n Schuylkill Haven: The Penn State Schuylkill Nittany Players will present "Willy Wonka" at 7 p.m. April 11 and 12, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 13 and 2 p.m. April 14 in the Morgan Auditorium on campus. It's the 11th season for the Nittany Players' spring theatrical performances. In a flier about the event, organizers said the "iconic story will be fun for the entire family." Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens and children under 18. They will be available after March 11 by calling 570-385-6049. The public is encouraged to attend.

n Shenandoah: St. Casimir and Saint Stanislaus Roman Catholic parishes are participating in a special Lenten collection for the Bernardine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. Items can be dropped off at the churches or taken to the office of parishes, 108 W. Cherry St., during regular hours. Items most needed include laundry detergent, bar soaps, hand towels, bath towels, tissues, mouthwash, denture cleaner, shampoo, writing paper/cards, panty liners, pillows, wash cloths, hand and body lotion, baby wipes, liquid soap refills, deodorant, Clorox, Depends and twin blankets. The donated items will benefit the retirement nursing home of the Bernardines and St. Joseph Villa.

n Tamaqua: In an effort called "Belle of the Ball," Deb Davies and Gwen Evans are seeking donations of gowns, shoes and jewelry for the 2013 school prom with collection from 10 a.m. to noon today at Zion Church Social Hall (use the office door on Mauch Chunk Street). "We feel at this time of financial difficulty, every girl deserves to dress like a princess," they said in a release. The gowns and accessories will be provided to girls who need them at no charge. Distribution will be from 5 to 8 p.m. March 1 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 2. Anyone with questions should call Davies at 570-668-4554 or Evans at 570-668-0666.
