Highridge crash

HIGHRIDGE - Two people escaped injury when their cars collided at Highridge Park Road and Keystone Boulevard in Cass Township at 5:53 a.m. Thursday.

State police at Frackville said Anthony Zanis, 25, of Seltzer, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado west on Highridge Park Road when he tried to turn left onto Keystone Boulevard and hit the driver's side of a 1996 Buick Regal being driven east on Highridge Park Road by Kenneth Kimmel Jr., 25, of Ashland.

The impact caused Kimmel's vehicle to spin into the median, police said, adding that Zanis will be cited as a result of the crash.

Charges against Hoy will be filed in a Berks County district court, police said.

Police: Man lied

about stabbing

HOMETOWN - A Tamaqua man is facing charges by Rush Township police after falsely reporting that he was stabbed about 10 a.m. Friday.

Police said Robert Campomizzi, 29, will have to appear before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, on charges of unsworn falsification to authorities.

Police said they received a call about a man stabbed at the Turkey Hill store on Route 309 and later determined that the man, Campomizzi, stabbed himself several times in the stomach and made up the story about being attacked.

Police said the stab wounds were very superficial.
