The City of Pottsville has found a tenant for the second floor of its Union Station Intermodal Transit Center, which opened in June.
However, Mayor John D.W. Reiley said he's not going to reveal the name of the business that will occupy that space until his State of the City Address, scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at Council Chambers, City Hall.
"I'm going to keep you in suspense," Reiley said last week.
He wouldn't offer any clues as to what kind of business would occupy the 5,458-square-foot space on the second floor of the station at 300 S. Centre St.
"By the night of the event, we should have all the paperwork signed and sealed," Reiley said.
The city officially opened Union Station, a three-story building designed as the main terminal for Schuylkill Transportation System and home for the Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau, with a dedication ceremony June 10. The building also houses a Pottsville police substation.
In November, the council agreed to allow QEI Construction, 14 Commerce Drive, Wyomissing, Berks County, to lease a space on the first floor, next to the visitors bureau, Palamar said.
Other topics Reiley will discuss during his State of the City speech will include the stress of the economy.
In December, the council approved a 0.6-mill tax increase to pass its 2012 budget of $8,058,299. Rising health care costs were one of the primary reasons for the increase, Reiley said.
