Police said that about 8:30 p.m., officers received information that a 15-year-old runaway from Hazleton had been staying at 32 S. Harrison St., McAdoo.

The teen had been listed as a runaway since September, police said.

Funk, who was jailed in Columbia County Prison on unrelated charges, was arraigned by video conference Wednesday with bail set at $10,000 on the Schuylkill County charges.

Metrick's current whereabouts are unknown, police said.

Police said the two men stole wheels, tires and automotive parts from Vito Rinaldi Chevrolet Inc., 649 Gold Star Highway, between 3:30 and 3:50 a.m. Aug. 31.

Police said security video images from a nearby business - Moe's Auto Glass/Pet Brothers - led to the identification of the two men.

Man charged after theft, chase

SHENANDOAH - Borough police arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a vehicle theft Sunday and a chase early Monday.

Police said Richard Bates, no address available, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, Frackville, on charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked. Hale set bail at 10 percent of $25,000, police said.

Police said the incident unfolded when a report was received that a vehicle owned by Jason Longenberger was stolen from the parking lot of Turkey Hill Minit Market on South Main Street.

About 12:45 a.m., police said the man's nephew called to report he was following the stolen Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and officers tried to stop the truck on Herald Road.

The driver, later determined to be Bates, began to flee but abided by the speed limit, used turn signals and stopped at all stop signs.

Bates led authorities to Yatesville Road, where he drove onto a pole-line road and then down a steep embankment, where he traveled an additional 100 yards until he crashed into a tree in West Mahanoy Township.

Bates fled on foot and police from Mahanoy City, Butler Township, Frackville, Ashland and state troopers from the Frackville station arrived to assist.

About 45 minutes later, Bates was found near the helipad on East Washington Street in Shenandoah and taken into custody.

Police said Bates bragged about the chase in an interview and admitted stealing the truck from the Turkey Hill parking lot.
