Vehicle damaged

in Wal-Mart lot

HAMBURG - State police at Hamburg are investigating a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 1800 Tilden Ridge Drive, Tilden Township, Berks County, about 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police said a vehicle backed out of a parking space and struck the left rear of a parked 2013 Toyota Tundra, causing light damage.

The driver fled the scene but was seen by witnesses who were able to obtain a registration plate.

The driver is described as a dark-skinned man in his mid- to late-30s operating a light blue Ford Aerostar or Windstar minivan that should have left rear damage.

Police said their investigation is continuing and ask that anyone with information call them at 610-562-6885 and refer to incident L04-1265636.

hit-and-run

EAST UNION - Two vehicles were involved in a hit-and-run accident at 6:45 a.m. Friday on Route 924 near Brandon Street, Sheppton Village, East Union Township, with the offending car leaving the scene.

State police at Frackville said Joe Gallagher, Ringtown, was driving a 1994 International 4900 Home Heating Oil delivery truck north and was hit by a small, compact maroon car in the driver's side bumper, police said.

Gallagher was entering the village of Sheppton and making a left turn onto Brandon Street when the driver attempted to pass on the left and hit the bumper, police said.

The driver continued to drive north on Route 924 without stopping, police said.

Gallagher was not injured and was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Rear quarter panel damage should be visible to the passenger side of the car, police said.

Hamburg man

charged with DUI

HAMBURG - Justyn Allen Lott, 25, of Hamburg, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following an incident at 2:17 p.m. Saturday on Hex Highway near the intersection of Rainbow Drive in Tilden Township.

State police at Hamburg said that Lott, driving a 2003 Dodge Neon, was stopped for traffic violations.

He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, police said.

Charges are pending, police said.
