2 injured in

2-vehicle crash

RINGTOWN - Two Ringtown men were injured following a two-vehicle crash at 5:42 p.m. Saturday on Route 4033, Ringtown Boulevard, near Walters Lane in Union Township.

State police at Frackville said the crash occurred as Paul L. Maurer, 21, of Ringtown, driving a 2001 Ford Ranger, was traveling south on Route 4033, and lost control on a snow covered road.

Maurer's vehicle spun into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, driven by Peter J. Pengrin, 54, of Ringtown, who was traveling north on Route 4033, police said.

Pengrin was extricated from his vehicle by the fire department and both drivers were transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by ambulance for evaluation, police said.

Maurer was wearing a seatbelt, but Pengrin was not, police said.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene, police said.

Maurer will be cited for the crash, police said.

Assisting at the scene were Ringtown Fire Company, Columbia Hose Company, Shenandoah, Ringtown Ambulance and Shenandoah ALS.

Union Township police were not working at the time of the crash.

Boy smashes

RINGTOWN - A 7-year-old boy will not be charged following an incident that occurred sometime between Wednesday and Sunday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 84 E. Main St.

State police at Frackville said that a following an investigation, it was determined that a 7-year-old boy smashed three windows panes out of the garage on the St. Paul's Church of Christ property.

Church officials did not want to pursue charges against the boy, police said.

The child's parents agreed to pay for the damages to the windows, police said.

Ringtown police were not working at the time of the incident.

Woman charged

in accident

PINE GROVE - A 19-year-old woman suffered minor injuries following a one-vehicle crash at 9:57 a.m. Friday on I-81 near mile marker 96.3 in Bethel Township.

State police at Jonestown said the crash occurred as Beau C. Natale, 19, of Pine Grove, driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, with passenger Kenya S. Blanks, 19, of Pine Grove, was traveling south on I-81 in the left lane when he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle went off the left side of the road, into the median and struck several trees, police said.

Natale was not injured, but Blanks sustained minor injuries and was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, police said.

Natale faces charges in connection with the crash, police said.

Frackville man

escapes injury

PINE GROVE - A Frackville man escaped injuries following a one-vehicle crash at 3:24 p.m. Saturday on I-81 at mile marker 98.7 in Pine Grove Township.

State police at Jonestown said the crash occurred as Justin T. Bendrick, 26, of Frackville, driving a 1995 Chrysler Concord, was traveling south on I-81 in the right lane.

Bendrick was driving too fast for the snow covered road, lost control and his vehicle slid off the left side of the road then rolled onto its roof, police said.

Bendrick was not injured, but will be charged for driving too fast for conditions, police said.
