Haven issues alert for street sweeping

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Borough officials are reminding residents to observe posted street signs for street sweeping.

Starting April 2, vehicles must be moved from posted streets between 3 and 6 a.m. during the first full week of every month, Tuesday through Friday. No exceptions are permitted for disabled vehicles, according to Brian Murray, borough highway foreman.

Those who do not follow the regulations will be ticketed and fined $15, he said.

During holidays when borough workers do not work, no street sweeping will occur, Murray said.

The dates for the street sweeping are as follows: April 2-5, April 9-12, May 7-10, June 4-7, July 2-5 (except for July 4), Aug. 6-9, Sept. 3-6, Oct. 1-4 and Nov. 5-8.

Sweeping times are posted on signs that are erected throughout the borough, he said, adding the information is also included on utility bills.

Sgt. Glenn Firing said violators are given 10 days to pay the tickets. If they don't, a citation is filed against the vehicle owner. Including court costs, the amount owed then is $75.
