NEW RINGGOLD - One person died Tuesday in a head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and car on Summer Valley Road, Route 895.
Assistant Chief Joe Caracappa with New Ringgold Community Fire Company said fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 2119 Summer Valley Road at 9:06 p.m. Caracappa said the car was ablaze and firefighters put out the heavy fire when they arrived at the scene.
Caracappa also said the driver of the truck did not require emergency medical treatment.
Deputy Coroner Dave Truskowsky confirmed that the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene but authorities did not identify the victim Tuesday night.
State police are continuing the investigation.
Also assisting at the scene were New Ringgold Community Fire Company, West Penn Township Fire Company, Orwigsburg Fire Company and Walker Township Fire Company.
