n Frackville: The Frackville Rotary Club will sponsor an Omega Health screening by Quest Diagnostics from 7 to 9:30 a.m. April 6 at the Frackville Senior Citizens Center, Frack Street and Broad Mountain Avenue. The cost is $55, which will include a chemistry profile, coronary risk profile and complete blood count. Additional tests may be ordered for $20 each. To register in advance, call 800-776-6342. Everyone is welcome to participate.

n Mahanoy City: William Kern Jr., Branchdale, was re-elected president of Post Q Anthracite Region, Travelers Protective Association of America, during the post's March meeting in the Good American Fire Company hall. Kern, who has been an active member of Post Q since 1982 and a TPA member since 1962, has served four previous terms as president. Other officers elected were: Harry O. Meyers, first vice president, and Dolores Miller, second vice president. The post, according to a press release, is still looking for a third vice president and members interested can call Edwin Miller, secretary/treasurer, at 570-773-3632. Board members elected included Suzanne Kern, chairwoman; Patricia Hartman, Katie Nolan, Joseph Rodick, Angela Witconis and Mary Beth Purcell, members. Kern Jr. and Miller are running for Area Three safety and community service chairman. Installation of officers is set for 6 p.m. April 3 in the Good American Firehall. Edwin and Dolores Miller, Bill Jr. and Suzanne Kern and Harry Meyers were elected delegates for the annual state convention to be held May 10 to 12 at the Holiday Inn, Grantville. The same five will also be delegates to the TPA National Convention hosted by the Pennsylvania Division at the Holiday Inn, Grantville, from June 23 through 26. Post Q normally meets at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month in the Good American Firehall. New members are always welcomed.

n McAdoo: McAdoo Catholic School officials are searching for alumni. According to an annoucement, a social page has been set up to reunite former students of McAdoo Catholic. Students of the former St. Kunegunda School also are invited to join. The site is www.facebook.com/McAdooCatholicAlumni. Anyone who knows of alums not in the area who would like to be on the page is asked to let them know.

n Shenandoah: The public is invited to attend a Living Stations of the Cross presentation by students of Trinity Academy in the Father Walter J. Ciszek Education Center, Cherry and Chestnut streets. The presentation will be at 6 p.m. today in Annunciation BVM Roman Catholic Church, across from the school. In a release, Trinity's director of development, Michael J. Nieddu, said the event will be a "prayerful celebration of the Lenten season."

n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Area Youth Volunteers group will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shenandoah Girls Softball Field at Bicentennial Park. Age groups will include 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10. Donations of wrapped candy, plastic eggs, stuffed bunnies, toys and similar fare will be appreciated, as will monetary donations. Donations may be dropped off at the Shenandoah Area Free Public Library, Washington and Main streets, or call 570-462-3730 or 570-462-2465 to arrange for pickup.

n Weston: The Weston Athletic Association will begin construction on the dance hall roof. Panels, at $68 each, are available for purchase. An inside plaque will bear the names of the panel donor or whomever the donor wishes to honor. A table offering panels for sale will be set up at the Nuremberg/Weston Fire Company building during the April 7 firefighters' breakfast. The athletic association will host a Bonanza breakfast buffet from 8 to 11 a.m. April 13 and 14 at the Bonanza restaurant, Hazleton. For each breakfast buffet sold on either day, Bonanza will donate $1 to the association. The money will go toward park maintenance and event hosting. Everyone is welcome to attend to support the park and the community, according to a release.
