An autopsy will be performed today on a Shenandoah man found dead inside his cell Sunday at the Schuylkill County Prison.
Pottsville police Capt. Richard Wojciechowsky said the 21-year-old man was found by corrections officers about 7:30 a.m.
The man, who was not identified by police, was last seen by guards after being locked in his cell about 10 p.m. Saturday.
The investigation is continuing and more information will be available after the autopsy is conducted, Wojciechowsky said, who added that the death does not appear to be suspicious.
"The initial investigation showed no immediate signs of criminal activity associated with the death," he said.
When contacted Monday afternoon, Prison Warden Eugene Berdanier would not identify the man until speaking with police investigators.
