n Pine Grove: Brandy M. Watts Martin, 24, a historian at the website StonyVillage.com, is looking for data on the Schuylkill & Susquehanna Railroad, originally called the Dauphin and Susquehanna Railroad. She has a focus on Pennsylvania's southern anthracite coal region, which had difficulty in transporting passengers and goods 160 years ago by wagon roads in the area. That changed, Watts Martin said in a release, in 1854 with the opening of the railroad, which ran for 54 miles from Rockville in Dauphin County to Auburn in Schuylkill County and through northern Lebanon County. Watts Martin, a Lebanon County native, wants to ensure the old line is not forgotten. Her website is devoted to exploring Stony Valley. She hopes to one day write a comprehensive history of the Schuylkill & Susquehanna line. She is reaching out to anyone who may have memories of the old line, or who may have photos or other memorabilia related to it, perhaps hidden in the attic. She asks that people send such items to her at P.O. Box 366, Pine Grove, PA 17963. People may also visit her website and click on the Every Memory Matters link or call 717-756-1373.
