n Frackville: The Frackville Museum, located in the Frackville Municipal & Community Center, 42 S. Center St., will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Roy Mengel, a borough native, will speak at 2 p.m. on the building and loan business. In its first year, according to Kathy Kraft, the museum has had more than 400 visitors. People will be welcome to stop by and tour the displays that include bridal and prom gowns, military uniforms and a hands-on clothes closet. New displays include a tribute to cars and firefighters including uniforms worn by local personnel plus other displays. Anyone with items to contribute should Kraft or Lorraine Stanton. The museum is accessible to the handicapped via the entrance at the rear of the building.
n Millersburg: The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art has announced a new series of cabaret evenings at the center, titled Sundays in the Gallery: Evenings of Celebration and Song, set for 7 p.m. April 14, 21 and 28. n Pottsville: Pottsville Area High School spring majorette camp is set for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 for grades two through eight in the gymnasium at the John S. Clarke Elementary Center. Registration is set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the main entrance to the high school. The cost is $25. If batons are needed, prices will vary. Girls who attend will participate in the Memorial Day parades in Port Carbon and Pottsville, according to Deniece Krater, adviser. n Ringtown: The Ringtown Valley Fire and Rescue Company will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the firehouse, 46 W. Main St. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children and includes a full menu. Patrons may eat in the firehouse or take meals out. All are welcome.
n Schuylkill Haven: The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble will perform in concert from 3 to 5 p.m. April 17 at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St. The Gabriel Youth Orchestra's Spring Concert will be held at 3 p.m. April 28 in the Pottsville Area School District's D.H.H. n Shamokin: The Northumberland County Council for the Arts Gallery is calling for entries for its annual Coal Region Heritage Invitational Art Exhibit. The deadline to enter is Thursday. All types of artwork with a coal region theme will be accepted, including paintings, traditional and digital photography, mixed media and three-dimensional works, according to a press release. All work must be framed and ready for hanging. Sculpture or three-dimensional work must be able to free stand on a table or pedestal. Artists are limited to three entries each. There is no entry fee. Works will be displayed beginning with an opening reception April 26 and continuing through the Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts Memorial Day weekend. Artists are invited to attend the reception and bring friends and family. n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Rotary Club has an ongoing program of providing American flags in honor of relatives or friends who are serving or have served in the armed forces. The cost is $20 per flag and the banners will be displayed in the borough throughout the year for significant holidays. Those who buy flags will receive certificates from the Rotary acknowledging the memory or honor contribution. The Rotarians hope the project will eliminate weathering of the community's patriotic display flags.
