n Barnesville: Tuscarora State Park will mark Earth Day at 9 a.m. Saturday at the visitor center. The event will then move to Locust Lake State Park, according to a release from Robin Tracey, environmental education specialist. Activities, according to the release, will range from litter pickup to trail maintenance and landscaping. "Thousands of people enjoy our great state park every year," Tracey said. "Gather your family and friends and join us for out spring cleanup." All tools and supplies will be provided. Volunteers should pack a bag lunch to "enjoy a beautiful day in the outdoors of Pennsylvania as we do our part to help the environment," Tracey added. n Kelayres: The Kline Township Police Department recently issued statements reminding residents of zoning laws requiring properties to be maintained and free of dilapidated or unused objects or junk. Shrubbery, officials said, is to be trimmed and lawns are to be kept cut inside as well as outside the yards to the alley or street. Anyone owning an abandoned vehicle is asked to remove it in accordance with state law and township ordinance. Abandoned vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense. Anyone owning or walking a pet is required to pick up after them. Anyone permitting his/her dog to relieve itself on public or someone else's private property, without picking up after the animal, will be cited under township ordinance. Parents are reminded that allowing children to operate motor scooters, mini motorcycles and similar vehicles on streets, alleys and sidewalks is prohibited by the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code. Anyone riding such gas- or electric-powered vehicles is required to be licensed and the vehicle must be registered, insured and inspected.
