n Frackville: The Frackville Rotary Club will participate in the Schuylkill Keep It Pretty cleanup, with club members and volunteers meeting at South Line Street and Industrial Highway at 4 p.m. April 25. The club has participated in every SKIP clean-up since the program began.

n Nuremberg: The Nuremberg-Weston Volunteer Fire Company will hold its semi-annual Comedy Night on Saturday. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets, which include the show and refreshments, are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. n Pine Grove: The Pine Grove Ambulance Association will offer CPR recertification classes on Wednesday at its headquarters. The Heart Saver AED will be offered at 6 p.m. and professional CPR at 7:30 p.m. The skills covered, according to a press release, are in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines. The classes are free for residents in the association's coverage area. n Port Carbon: The Port Carbon Public Library is enrolled in the ongoing Turkey Hill Moo Money program and is accepting milk caps with the Moo Money logo on them. The caps, according to Jason Abati, library director, can be obtained from any size Turkey Hill milk product and taken to the library during its normal operating hours. The library also is still collecting aluminum cans, which can be dropped off under the stairs alongside the library.

n Pottsville: The Pottsville Free Public Library recently acknowledged the following memorial donation: for Joseph B. "Joe" Lescavage from Tom and Rosie Takach.

n Ringtown: Bingo games are played Mondays at the Ringtown Area Senior Citizens Center, 104 W. Main St. Seniors spokeswoman Creta M. Lindenmuth said doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m. There are weekly jackpots as well as other activities. Everyone is welcome.

n Summit Hill: The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will conduct its annual Arbor Day ceremony and tree plantings beginning at 9 a.m. April 27. The ceremony and memorial plantings will be in Memorial Park near the post office. Anyone interested in sponsoring a tree to be planted in memory of or in honor of someone may call John Kupec at 570-645-9644 or Lou Vermillion at 570-645-9772. Volunteers to help plant and clean up are always welcome, as are contributions for the commission's efforts.

n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Anthracite Model Railroad Club meets from 6 to 8 p.m. weekly on Thursdays at its quarters on Nescopec Street across from the Elks building. New members are welcome. For more information, call 570-467-2025.

n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has several activities slated, including a breakfast fundraiser at the Hometown Fire Company on Saturday. Other events on the agenda include a cooking class Friday, a special breakfast Wednesday, a visit from the St. Jerome Regional School kindergarten class April 26 and the monthly birthday party April 30. In addition to weekly sing-alongs and social games, hair styling and manicure services are available, but advance notice is required. Daily activities include exercise, reality orientation, motivational and reminiscent therapy as well as breakfast, lunch and a snack. Anyone wanting more information about the center and its services may call 570-668-6577.

n Tamaqua: Weekly street sweeping operations have resumed in the borough. Officials noted that several streets in the downtown area are permanently posted for Thursday and Friday sweepings, including Broad, Berwick, Center, Pine, Railroad, Nescopec and Swatara streets. Additional streets will be posted, advertised and cleaned periodically. Streets will be posted the day before cleaning operations are scheduled. All vehicles must be removed from posted streets. Any vehicle remaining on the street will be ticketed and possibly towed. Property owners and residents are welcome to clean their sidewalks before street sweeping occurs. The schedule is subject to change due to work and weather conditions. More information is available at borough hall, 320 E.
