Woman charged

in New Philly crash

NEW PHILADELPHIA - Three people escaped injury after an accident involving three vehicles at 5 p.m. Saturday on Valley Street near the New Philadelphia Post Office parking lot.

State police at Frackville said Joan Quirk, 80, of Cumbola, was driving a 1999 Buick Park Avenue out of the parking lot and struck the passenger side of a northbound 2006 GMC Sierra, driven by George Grenus Jr., 52, of Kaska, which then spun around and hit a parked 2007 Suzuki Vitara owned by Edward and Mildred Cachert, who were not in the vehicle.

Police said the Buick and GMC required towing while the Suzuki sistained only light bumper damage.

Emmett J. Quirk, 81, of Cumbola, a passenger in the Buick, was also not injured.

Joan Quirk was cited for the accident.

Shen man

charged with DUI

SHENANDOAH - A 29-year-old Shenandoah man was charged for driving while under the influence of alcohol at 12:52 p.m. Saturday on West Coal Street, West Mahanoy Township.

State police at Frackville said Leonard Chiscavage was pulled over in his vehicle for a traffic stop and was found to be under the influence after a breathilizer test.

Charges were filed with District Magistrate Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

Man charged

with harassment

BRANDONVILLE - A 43-year-old Ringtown man was charged with making threats, simple assault and harassment after a domestic incident about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 40 Main Boulevard, Brandonville.

State police at Frackville said Daniel John Wylie grabbed the arm of a 43-year-old woman, pushed her on the couch and pulled her hair and punched her in the right eye while also threatening to kill her.

Wylie was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville.

He was remanded to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of 10 percent bail of $25,000.
