ORWIGSBURG - Books came to life Sunday afternoon in the Blue Mountain High School Auditorium as local performers sang and danced to their favorite Broadway musicals, many of which were adapted from novels.
The Orwigsburg Area Free Public Library hosted "Books to Broadway and Dancing with the Local Stars" as a fundraiser and more than 100 people turned out.
Admission was $5 but audience members also made additional donations so the amount raised was not immediately available.
"I think libraries are the heart of communities and this shows that people support their libraries," Claudia Gross, director of the library, said Saturday.
Gross said she organized the event with Lynette Moyer, director of the Schuylkill Haven Free Public Library. Moyer, also a member of the choral society, sang "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" from "Gentlemen Prefer
