Saint Clair police search for man

SAINT CLAIR - Saint Clair police are looking for a man who broke a credit card machine in Wal-Mart about 7:25 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the man walked to the layaway area of the store and broke the machine that is used to pick up items that have been ordered from the store or online.

After breaking the machine, police said, the man left the store and fled the area in a maroon Jeep Cherokee, possibly between the model years of 2000 and 2004.

The man is described as being older and wearing a dark coat. No other description is available, police said.

Police: Wal-Mart thief faces charges

HOMETOWN - A 20-year-old Nesquehoning resident is facing charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property charges after stealing items valued at $105.88 from Wal-Mart in Rush Township on Friday.

Township police said Cody Kmetz also stole items valued at $143.10 on Feb. 5 and $103.70 on Feb. 9 and will also be charged in connection with those incidents.

Police said Kmetz will have to answer to the chares before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.

Minersville woman faces drug charges

HOMETOWN - A 32-year-old Minersville woman is facing charges by Rush Township police after an incident on Lincoln Drive about 3 a.m. Feb. 7.

Police said Heather M. Bernitsky will be charged with possession of bath salts and possession of drug paraphernalia and will have to answer before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.

Police said the woman was found with the drugs and a needle and spoon in her possession while walking on Lincoln Drive.

Dog stolen from Pine Grove home

PINE GROVE - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft that occurred at 77 Sweet Arrow Lake Road in Pine Grove Township between 11 and 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said Shelia Ann Strubhar reported someone stole a blonde color female Cocker Spaniel dog from her home and fled the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-593-2000.

Police: Woman injured in crash

SAINT CLAIR - One person suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash on the Burma Road in Blythe Township at 3:10 p.m. Monday.

State police at Frackville said Erin Gudinas, 31, of Saint Clair, was driving a 2011 Hyundai Tucson when she struck a deer that ran into the path of her vehicle.

Police said Gudinas suffered minor back and neck injuries and was taken to a Pottsville hospital by Saint Clair EMS for treatment. A 2-year-old boy in her vehicle was not hurt, police said.

Saint Clair police assisted at the scene, police said.

Hamburg woman injured in crash

NEW RINGGOLD - A 26-year-old Hamburg woman suffered minor injuries when the 2001 Mitsubishi she was driving crashed on Cold Run Road in East Brunswick Township at 3:15 p.m. Monday.

State police at Frackville said Katherine Kirkland was driving south when she went off the road at a curve and hit a tree on an embankment.

The car then traveled across both lanes of the road and sideswiped a guiderail before coming to a stop, police said, adding that the woman reported being momentarily blinded by the sun prior to going off the road.

Police said Kirlkand suffered a minor injury but refused medical transport to a hospital. Tamaqua EMS and Tamaqua Rescue Squad members assisted at the scene, police said.
