Woman charged

with bad checks

HEGINS - Hegins Township police filed bad check charges against a 54-year-old Valley View woman stemming from an incident on Dec. 30.

Police said Tammy Heffner will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont.

Police said, Heffner issued a check in the amount of $339 but the check was returned by the bank for insufficient funds.

Man found to be

illegal immigrant

ORWIGSBURG - A 42-year-old man was found to be an illegal immigrant by state police at Schuylkill Haven after a traffic stop at the E and T Pizza parking lot in North Manheim Township at 4:35 a.m. Feb. 11.

Police said they investigated a DUI incident on Manheim Road and found Anastacio C. Rodriguez, who lists an address of Auburn, to be driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was also found to be in the United States illegally by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, ICE, police said.

The man was charged with DUI and false reports to law enforcement and will be deported to his home country of Mexico, police said.

Sugarloaf man

faces DUI charges

MOLLEYSTOWN - A 24-year-old Sugarloaf resident is facing charges of DUI after a crash on Route 125, in the area of Molleystown Road in Tremont Township, at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Gurminder Singh suffered minor injuries and was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville, by Tremont EMS for treatment. The man is facing charges following the results of a blood-alcohol test, police said.

According to police Singh was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt north and lost control while driving a left curve causing the car to go off the road, hit an embankment and then a cement drainage ditch, police said.

The car continued north on an embankment and struck a PennDOT sign and rolled onto its roof before coming to a stop facing south, police said.

Man faces

vehicle charges

PINE GROVE - A 33-year-old man is facing charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after an incident on Jan. 16 at Route 125 and Sweet Arrow Lane Road in Pine Grove Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Robert C. Miller will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont. Police said Miller used a vehicle owned by Chrystal Ann Michael that was stored on his property without the woman's permission.

Miller was also found to be in violation of other traffic related laws, police said.
